Biography
1967 – 1972 A member of the Revolution and Island Council.
1969 President of the Republic of Anguilla.
1972 – 1976 Leader of Island Council.
1972 – 1976 Chair of the Finance Committee.
Prior to serving as Chief Minister, Webster was the designated Chairman of the Anguilla Island Council when the territory declared its independence from the Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla government in 1967, through the Anguillan Revolution, which he led.
1976 – 1977 Chief Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Development and Planning. The Department of Information and Broadcasting was added on 18th March 1976. In 1977 a vote of no confidence was brought against Mr Webster, where he then assumed a seat in Opposition.
1977-1979 Member of the Opposition.
1980 – 1981 Chief Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. The Medical, Health and Dental Units were added thereafter.
1981 – 1984 Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism and Home Affairs;
Awarded Badge of Honour and The Queen’s Certificate in 1994.
A proclamation in 2010 declared 2nd March – Mr Webster’s birthday a national holiday.
