Our Vision, Mission and Values

Mission

The Anguilla House of Assembly’s mission is to identify, debate, and legislate issues of importance to the people of Anguilla; to hold the Executive accountable by providing effective oversight and by promoting public engagement, openness, and transparency of national decision-making processes.

Vision

The Anguilla House of Assembly’s vision is of an independent, efficient, and effective Assembly that is responsive to the aspirations of the people of Anguilla and actively participates in the transformation of Anguilla to meet those aspirations.

Guiding Principles/ Values

Adherence to the Nolan Principles. The Anguilla House of Assembly adheres to and upholds the Nolan Principles, also known as the Seven Principles of Public Life, being: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

Legality. We operate under the rule of law, in accordance with legislation and judicial decisions, fully respecting human and other fundamental rights and the principles of good governance.

Integrity. We act in the interest of the people of Anguilla, with professionalism, showing fairness and equity, exercising objectivity, and avoiding discrimination.

Inclusiveness. We support a participatory, collaborative governance approach that recognises the value of diversity of opinions, perspectives, and partnerships.

Openness and transparency. We value clear communication and information-sharing, ensuring that our Members, our building, and our proceedings; our services are accessible to the people we serve.

People-oriented. We put people first: prioritising and being responsive to their needs and interests while working progressively, flexibly, and in ways that produce high quality outputs, desired deliverables, and value for money in a timely manner while building national resilience.

Connectivity. We support efficient management and administrations, but recognise the importance of a whole government approach to ensure that all parts of the administrative system work in a coordinated manner and where the same high standard of services is provided.

Forward-thinking. We plan for future scenarios, anticipating the potential impacts of policy beyond electoral cycles, and being at the forefront of national sustainable transformation, while supporting innovation.
