Biography
The Hon. José Vanterpool is a past Island Scholar who holds a master’s degree in Computer Science. He first became a member of the House of Assembly in 2019 when he was appointed as First Nominated Member and subsequently Deputy Speaker making history as Anguilla’s Youngest Parliamentarian at the age of 23. Mr. Vanterpool continued to serve as a member of the assembly after successfully contesting the 2020 and 2025 general elections as an Island-Wide representative. Mr. Vanterpool successfully contested the 2020 General Elections as an Island-Wide Candidate and served as a member of the Opposition.
During this period, Mr. Vanterpool served as a member of the Public Accounts Committee, the Parliamentary Reform Committee, The House Administration Committee, The Educational Reform Task Force, and the Gun Crime and Violence Committee. He is certified in Parliamentary Practice and Governance with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and McGill University and was a member of the of the CPA’s first international cohort to complete the Advanced Development Residency Program.
Following his successful reelection in 2025, Mr. Vanterpool currently serves as the Honourable Minister of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing, Information Technology, and E-Government Services for the Government of Anguilla. He is currently a member of the House Administration Committee and is passionate about Anguilla’s National and Parliamentary development.
